OBTe001: European Landscape Photographers HangOut No. 01

Welcome to the first European Landscape photographers HangOut. Sorry to tell you, that I am the guy that is missing in the talk.

The audio recording was not functioning well. I don’t know what the problem was. I have done this several times and I had no serious problem. So after the show, all audio was missing. A friend of mine could repair the audio of my hangout but my personal audio stream is still missing.

So I cut out everything with me in it. And of course this cause some serious discontinuities during the talk.

But I guess the talk is working without me very well. Should I be worried? No, it was a great experience to meet some of the best landscape photographers from all over Europe. These guys are amazing.

And everybody told me, that this should not be the last time we talked in English language. So stay tuned and subscribe to the RSS Feed of the podcast Stream. You see the links in the sidebar. As soon we have 3 episodes this will become an iTunes podcast stream.

In the sidebar you can see future episodes in the broadcasting schedule. If you want to see this episodes live on Air follow me on G+: https://plus.google.com/+OlafBathke/

Buy used photography books

I have a huge collection of photo books. I love browsing through the pages. Studying one only photographer is also very inspiring to me. And most of the time they have something to tell.

At the moment I order my photo books used via amazon.de or abebooks.de. It is unbelievable what you can find there.

I ordered Jim Brandenburgs first Edition (the one with parchment around it) for 0,79 €!!! It has a dedication in it. Plus shipping costs I had to pay less than 7€.

Or the glorious book Windows of the Soul: My Journeys in the Muslim World from Alexandra Avakian for 7,-€.

It is also a way to get books that are out of print, like the best photography book all of the time

or

The Family of Man

And It helps keeping our world green. So lets go shopping and tell me, what you have found there.

Advanced water photography

You can read a great blog post I wrote recently for the Focus on Singh-Ray Filters Blog. It is about the creative possibilities of taking photos of seascapes and water using filters. Some readers contacted me via facebook and twitter and asked for further information about the camera settings of the photos. So I will be of help. Read more

Portrait Format – Terra Incognita

Christopher Columbus called the land, which he wanted to discover in the 15. Century, “Terra Incognita”.

This „unknown land” is still to be discovered under the criterion “format” for a majority of the landscape photographers today.
